A Fundraiser with a little KISS

With one of the beneficiaries of the Yamhill County Association of Realtors Annual Charity Auction being the Janet Dumdi Comfort Fund, founded in memory of her mother, Beth Jacobson thought it was time to enlist the help of a cousin.
And not just any cousin, mind you. The cousin she had in mind was Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist in the rock band KISS.

Known for his philanthropy, Thayer came through with several pieces of memorabilia. The cache includes a drum head, guitar strap and various photos, many signed either by him alone or by the entire band.

Despite their image — the bandsmen feature white and black face paint and flamboyant stage outfits — Jacobson describes them as “family guys” who are very “down to earth” in their everyday lives. So the gesture is not unusual for them.

The event is set to get under way at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, with a silent auction. To be held at the Golden Valley Brewery, 980 N.E. Fourth St., it will continue with an oral auction at 6:30 p.m.
